Akos Buzsaky, the mercurial midfielder who once lit up Loftus Road, has moved to reassure supporters and former team-mates that he is safe after reports in Hungary claimed he had been missing for more than a week.
Alarming stories emerged on Wednesday from his homeland, stating that police were searching for the former QPR and Hungary international. Concern spread quickly, particularly among fans who remember him as the elegant playmaker at the heart of Rangers’ rise in the late 2000s.
Two days later, the 44-year-old broke his silence.
Buzsaky took to Facebook to confirm he was unharmed and to thank those who had worried about him. QPR then shared his message on X, amplifying his words to a fanbase that had spent days fearing the worst.
“Unfortunately, in the last few months, there have been serious changes in my life that have tested me,” he wrote, explaining that he had felt the need to step away from everyday life. “There came a moment when I felt I had to break away from these daily routines.”
That private retreat triggered public alarm. Buzsaky revealed that his mother had contacted the police after what he described as a “misunderstanding”. Once he realised the scale of the situation, he cut short his break and immediately informed the authorities.
“A soon as I learned about the situation, I stopped my retreat and informed the authorities,” he said, before expressing his gratitude for the outpouring of support. “Thank you very much for all the concern and thoughts you have shown me. I wish everyone a nice day, and it felt really good to receive so much love!”
For QPR supporters, the episode stirred memories of a player who, at his peak, seemed born for the Loftus Road stage. Buzsaky first arrived in west London on loan in 2007 and stayed for five seasons, his left foot supplying goals, set-pieces and moments that still live easily in the mind.
