Leeds will pay Nice an initial fee of one million euros for the loan. If Bard settles and convinces, they can make the move permanent in the summer for a further five million euros. Willy Gnonto is in Florence to complete his move to Fiorentina, a return to Serie A that has been in motion but not guaranteed. The Italian’s loan switch hinged on Leeds first securing a replacement, a sensible safeguard for a side that cannot afford to lose attacking firepower without a plan.
That plan took a hit. Leeds had lined up Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk, only to see Tottenham step in and hijack the move. Just as Leeds thought they had their man, the deal was snatched away, leaving Farke and the recruitment team scrambling as the window ticks down.
So Leeds edge closer to Bard, shoring up one side of the pitch, while the situation in attack remains unsettled.
