The Premier League’s summer window is down to its final four days, and the tension is starting to bite. Squads are still incomplete, managers are still pushing, and some of the biggest names in England could yet be on the move before Tuesday night slams the door shut.
At the top end of the market, the numbers are eye-watering. In the shadows, smart loans and opportunistic bids are quietly reshaping squads for the long haul.
Enzo Fernandez at the centre of a seismic deal
The headline story belongs to Manchester City and Chelsea. TyC Sports report that City have agreed a £120million fee to sign Enzo Fernandez, a move that would make him the most expensive midfielder in history, eclipsing the fee paid for Elliot Anderson.
A contract running until 2032 is said to be on the table. Chelsea have braced for the possibility of losing Fernandez all summer; now the deal is close enough to feel real. If City push it over the line before the deadline, Pep Guardiola’s midfield will be rebuilt again, and Chelsea’s latest rebuild will take another dramatic twist.
Liverpool ready to go big for Barcola
Up the M62, Liverpool are preparing a blockbuster of their own. They are expected to complete the signing of Bradley Barcola in a nine-figure deal, a move that would reinforce Jürgen Klopp’s attack and send another jolt through a market already distorted by huge fees.

Manchester United’s reshuffle gathers pace
