The WBO’s ordered super middleweight title fight between Hamzah Sheeraz and Janibek Alimkhanuly has taken a clear step towards reality, with Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions winning the purse bid.
Queensberry secured the rights with a bid just over $1 million, edging out Top Rank’s offer of $820,000, according to ESPN. It’s a significant move in a fight many doubted would be nailed down this quickly.
Warren has already moved into planning mode. He is eyeing London or Birmingham as potential hosts in England, with New York also firmly on the table. The working dates are November 28 or December 5, setting up a late-year showcase should all details be finalized.
Nothing is signed and sealed yet, but with the promotional battle decided and venues shortlisted, the path is finally clearing for Sheeraz and Janibek to fight for the WBO belt on a major stage.
