San Diego FC have moved decisively to arm their attack with something every new club craves: guaranteed goals.
The expansion side have landed Congolese striker Cedric, a veteran finisher whose career numbers tell their own story. Since breaking through at Sochaux, he has piled up 191 goals and 49 assists in 492 professional appearances, a body of work built across some of Europe’s most demanding stages with Villarreal, Marseille, Olympiacos, and Galatasaray.
“Cedric brings an incredible level of experience and proven quality to San Diego FC,” he said in the club’s announcement, stressing the forward’s pedigree at the sharp end of the game. “He has built an outstanding career competing at the highest levels in Europe and internationally, and his ability to consistently find the back of the net has been a defining part of his game. He understands what it takes to perform on the biggest stages and brings a winning mentality that will be extremely valuable to our group.”
On the international stage, Cedric has been just as reliable. For DR Congo, he has scored 21 goals in 72 caps and featured in four Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, giving San Diego a striker who has lived through pressure nights and knockout football.
Heaps knows that kind of experience is priceless for a club still writing its first chapters.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Cedric and his family to San Diego and look forward to seeing him make his mark with our club,” he added.
The move also sharpens a frontline that already carried a real edge. Cedric joins an attacking unit featuring Anders Dreyer, Marcus Ingvartsen, and fellow 2026 World Cup forward Elias Achouri. On paper, that’s a group with variety, depth, and a ruthless streak in front of goal.
