Hull City winger Sorba Thomas escaped injury after his car flipped onto its roof close to the club’s training base on Friday morning.
The 27-year-old was involved in a crash on Millhouse Woods Lane in Cottingham, a short distance from Hull’s facilities. Images from the scene showed a grey Land Rover Defender on its roof with its windows smashed, underlining the force of the impact.
Emergency services attended and remained on site as investigations continued, with Humberside Police urging the public to steer clear of the area while they worked.
Hull City later moved to calm growing concern as pictures of the wrecked vehicle spread across social media. In a statement, the club said it was “relieved” to learn Thomas had walked away from the crash without injury.
The club added that, despite the dramatic photographs, the winger “sustained no injuries and emerged from his vehicle completely unscathed.”
Thomas only joined the Tigers from Championship side Stoke earlier this month. For Hull, the priority today is not his availability, but the simple fact their new signing walked away.
