Flavio Cobolli Shares Insights on Practice Session with Jannik Sinner Ahead of Comeback

The much-anticipated return of Jannik Sinner to professional tennis seems imminent. Reports confirm that Sinner is expected to make his comeback at the upcoming China Open in Beijing, where he will defend his title. The Italian star has been sidelined due to a knee injury since his victory over Alexander Zverev in the 2026 Wimbledon final.

Despite the break, Sinner still holds the top spot in the ATP rankings. His lead is under pressure from Zverev, who closed the gap after winning the US Open. With less than 2000 points separating them, Zverev could surpass Sinner by season's end if results favor him.

Training in Monte Carlo with Flavio Cobolli

Sinner has been gearing up for his return in Monte Carlo, where he recently practiced alongside fellow Italian Flavio Cobolli. Cobolli, who finished runner-up at Roland Garros this year, is currently in London representing Team Europe at the Laver Cup.

Before competing in the ninth edition of the event, Cobolli spoke to Super Tennis TV about practicing with Sinner. He mentioned, "We joked around a lot. It was really nice to find him again on the court. Every time I get the chance, I try to make the most of our time playing together. He's one of the people who teaches me the most; I'm always eager to train with him."

At 24 years old, Cobolli is experiencing the best season of his career in 2026 and is making his third consecutive appearance at the Laver Cup. He debuted in 2024 when Team Europe prevented Team World from securing a three-peat.

Cobolli won't play on the opening day, which features a doubles match with Carlos Alcaraz and Jakub Mensik facing off against Alexander Bublik and Taylor Fritz.

Team Europe’s leadership includes captain Yannick Noah and vice captain Tim Henman, while Team World is guided by captain Andre Agassi and vice captain Pat Rafter.
