Glamorgan will part company with young seamer Ben Morris at the end of the season, drawing a line under a brief first-team stint for one of Wales’ homegrown quicks.
The 22-year-old, born in Abergavenny, has been on the fringes of the senior side, making a single County Championship appearance and five outings in the One Day Cup. His standout performance came in 2024, when he returned figures of 3-52 against Essex, a spell that hinted at a higher ceiling and briefly pushed him into the selection conversation.
His most recent first-team game arrived in August 2025, a reminder of how tough it is to nail down a place in a professional attack stacked with experience and overseas competition. Since then, opportunities have thinned, and the decision has now been made for player and club to go their separate ways.
Morris has built his cricketing education through the Welsh pathway, turning out for the successful Cardiff UCCE side and representing Wales National County, where his pace and control have kept him on the radar of the professional game.
"I have enjoyed my time at the club, but I feel I still have a lot to offer in cricket and remain open to new opportunities, while being ready to explore a career away from it," Morris said, leaving the door open to both a fresh county challenge and life beyond the professional circuit.
His departure adds to a year of change in the Glamorgan dressing room. Veteran batter and keeper Chris Cooke, 40, has already confirmed his retirement, stripping away another layer of experience and underlining that this is a squad edging into a new phase.
