Barbados Tridents have turned to Harleen Deol as they look to steady their Women's Caribbean Premier League title defence, bringing in the India batter for the remainder of the 2026 season.
Deol, 28, has already linked up with the squad in Barbados and comes in as the Tridents' fifth overseas player. With no commitments to either the senior India side or the India 'A' setup at the moment, she is free to stay with the franchise right through the tournament – a rare slice of continuity in a busy international calendar.
Her signing adds another strong Indian thread to this WCPL. Of the 20 overseas slots available across teams, five now belong to Indian players. The Tridents themselves are quickly becoming a familiar dressing room for India fans: Deol joins compatriots Kiran Navgire and Pooja Vastrakar in the defending champions’ ranks, while Shikha Pandey and Yastika Bhatia are turning out for Trinbago Knight Riders.
Deol brings experience, if not fireworks, from the international arena. She has played 28 T20Is for India, scoring 311 runs from 20 innings at a strike rate of 92.01, and last featured for her country in March against Australia. Her domestic and franchise record carries more punch: across 28 WPL games for Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz, she has compiled 649 runs at a strike rate of 115.68, numbers that hint at a batter capable of anchoring an innings while still keeping the board moving.
Barbados may need exactly that. Their title defence started with a jolt – a 21‑run defeat to Trinbago Knight Riders on September 5 – and the schedule offers no breathing space. The Tridents face Jamaica Empress on Saturday and Guyana Amazon Warriors on Sunday in a pivotal weekend that could define their season’s shape.
Deol arrives, then, not as a luxury signing, but as a timely piece in a champion side suddenly under pressure.
